Welcome to the Power Education Foundation (PEF) official site. PEF is dedicated to promoting access to and raising the standard of early childhood education in Africa’s countryside.

PEF is a United States not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation dedicated to providing early learning opportunity for Africa’s rural poor children. We work to get children ready for school, and to produce young adults who succeed in school, have good physical health, psychological and emotional well-being, possess life skills, have healthy family and social relationships and are capable of fulfilling civic obligations.

It’s all about empowering kids!

Do you know that in Nigeria, alone, over 20 million pre-school-age children, most of them in rural areas, have no access to any form of formal early childhood education? The PEF raises funds and makes grants aimed at ensuring that Africa’s rural poor kids have access to free or low cost functional education, nutrition and basic healthcare. You can help us achieve our lofty goals. Your tax deductible donation towards this cause can help with:

Providing matching grants to community-based early learning centers.
teachers’ salaries in approved community-based early learning centers.
Training of specialist teachers in early childhood education.
Conducting research into appropriate teaching methodology in early childhood education.
Developing appropriate curriculum in early childhood education
Providing physical structures and facilities in community-based early childhood education centers.
infrastructure, such as playground, equipment and teaching materials and school supplies to children enrolled in early childhood education centers.
Providing payment vouchers for poor kids to attend private early learning centers, the cost of which otherwise they would not afford.
Ensuring that pre-school kids are immunized, as and when due.
Providing free breakfast and/or lunch for kids enrolled in community-based early learning centers.
Providing periodic basic health screenings and primary healthcare services to children enrolled in community-based early learning centers. This will involve the retention of the services of visiting nurses and doctors for the centers.
